Three actives, three separate bodies of evidence. Retinal and PDRN numbers come from independent, peer-reviewed human studies of those ingredient technologies. Retinaldehyde is the form of vitamin A one step closer to what skin actually uses. It supports cell turnover and collagen-related pathways — and unlike most "retinol alternatives," it has randomized human clinical research behind it.

In a 24-week split-face study of 56 women using stabilized retinal, median wrinkle length in the measured forehead region fell 71.1% and chin wrinkle length 28.5% with 0.1% retinal, alongside significant improvements in dermal density, elasticity and viscoelasticity. Regional instrument measurements — not "71% fewer wrinkles everywhere."
In a randomized, double-blind controlled trial of 0.1% retinal, 95% of participants showed overall improvement in photoaging after three months, with skin texture +13.7%, hydration +10.2% and water loss through the skin −14.5%.
In a randomized split-face trial, retinal and retinol were compared head-to-head at the same concentrations for eight weeks. Retinal significantly improved wrinkles, hydration, elasticity and facial contour — and outperformed retinol on nearly every objective measure.
The stabilized retinal technology in Signal showed statistically significant improvement in crow's feet, fine lines, skin-tone evenness, photodamage and visual + tactile smoothness in third-party clinical grading.
Regenerative signaling — not exfoliation.
PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a cellular signaling ingredient that supports skin renewal, tissue regeneration and resilience. Ours is plant-derived, not salmon. And the human testing on it wasn't just on the face.

A 2026 peer-reviewed study (PLOS ONE) tested topical PDRN in photodamaged human skin: in a randomized, double-blind, split-face trial, 0.1% PDRN was compared directly against 0.1% retinol for 28 days. Crow's-feet wrinkle area and count fell 20–23% with PDRN versus 6–7% with retinol, with roughly 2× the improvement in dermal thickness, dermal density and periocular wrinkles and 1.8× in elasticity and firmness. Underneath the result, PDRN activated repair pathways in fibroblasts and increased collagen and elastic-fiber-associated proteins in UV-damaged skin models. Independent evidence for topical PDRN as a technology — not a test of Signal's specific PDRN.
The PDRN technology used in Signal was tested in 32 people age 50+ with sagging skin and wrinkles on the neck and décolleté: 28 days of twice-daily use produced an average 8.4% decrease in skin deformation — a measured tightening effect — with improvement as high as 46% in individual subjects. In reconstructed human skin it increased expression of a type-I collagen gene; fibroblast testing found increased collagen synthesis.

Deeper analysis found reductions of up to 86% in the surface occupied by medium-depth wrinkles and up to 98% for deep wrinkles.
A 2025 peer-reviewed study showed Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12 penetrates the stratum corneum and epidermis and helps strengthen and repair the skin barrier in full-thickness human skin models.
